Disney World Dining Reviews – Jungle Skipper Canteen

I LOVE the Jungle Cruise as much as the next person. It’s so fun to hop on those boats and listen to all the corny and sarcastic jokes from the skippers. The first time we ever went on it in Disneyland we didn’t know this was the spiel and felt so awkward! Like, “oh! Is he allowed to say that?! Will this person get fired???” I laugh so much when I think of that now. ? Serious Disney fans will also appreciate the nostalgia of a ride that was so close to Walt Disney’s heart. So of course when I heard there is a new restaurant in the Magic Kingdom based on that ride with a vegan item on the menu. Well, it was the first reservation I made when we started planning our Walt Disney World vacation!  Continue reading “Disney World Dining Reviews – Jungle Skipper Canteen”

The Butcher’s Son – so good it feels bad!!! ?

Last Sunday was a particularly sunny day here in SF that simply begged its residents to get out there and soak in the vitamin D! ?  So off we went hopping into the BART and across the bridge over to Berkley! Sorry SF. We see you all the time… sometimes we need a change of scenery- it’s not you, it’s me. Berkley is just where my people are (exhibit A: gluten free & vegan Viennese cookies). Gluten free vegan food abounds amongst charming bookstores, protest posters, and everything hippie. Which is why every veggie minded person visiting the city by the bay must make their way over there- and when you do, eat at The Butcher’s Son.

Heuriger Feuerwehr Wagner – A true Austrian experience! Vegan, Gluten Free, Vegetarian

Heuriger Feuerwehr Wagner knows that I am writing this review as they asked me why I was photographing everything (fair question!). What they don’t know is that last year at Christmas they were put to the ultimate test when they hosted the Christmas party of an international school I worked at. Let me paint the picture for you: about 50 staff members representing over 20 different nationalities and at least 10 had varying food allergies/intolerances. What a nightmare! The common solution is to make one allergy friendly dish and call it a day. Feuerwehr Wagner needed no solution. They have a full allergy friendly menu and we were invited to just pick out what we like!

People’s Park Market Dun Laoghaire

I could tell you in a heartbeat what my favorite thing about living in Dublin is – being close to the ocean. In a mere 10-20 minutes in different directions on the DART train one can find themselves smelling fresh ocean air. I am obsessed with it. As soon as I step off the train, the moment the salty goodness fills my lungs, I start to relax. The sound of the ocean starts to ring in my ears along with the chatter of the seagulls. Heaven. On a Sunday there is no better seaside spot than Don Laoghaire because of the People’s Park Market. The ukulele group is a great reason to go but the second reason? Food! Lots and lots of food!

ERICH – A new gem in Vienna’s 7th district. Vegan & Gluten Free options.

Berlin has Kreuzberg, San Francisco has The Mission, New York has Brooklyn, and Vienna?

Vienna has the 7th District. Home to hipsters, everything organic and fair trade, and lots and lots of vegans. It was only natural for Vienna’s first vegan ice cream parlor, Veganista, to open here. Ice cream fans from all over the city quickly flocked over and gobbled up the icy deliciousness. But what about dinner before? Well, that was problematic. Sure there are options a few blocks away in most directions but nothing right there.

Until now.

Gluten Free & Vegan Crepes – Don Laoghaire, Ireland

We spent a significant amount of time on the Don Laoghaire Pier this Sunday. I’m not gonna lie, we were totally Pokemon hunting! The bandstand on the pier is a well known Poke Stop always surrounded with lures. Well, if all that running around and phone swiping does not work up an appetite! Fortunately we were rescued from by THE most charming food truck.

Box Burger in Bray, Ireland

Just a few minutes walk from the Bray DART station (40 minutes from Dublin city centre) is a fun little place called Box Burger, a partner restaurant with Platform Pizza bar. BOTH places cater to gluten free folks, vegans, and vegetarians. The coolest part? You can order from both menus when sitting outside.

Pizza AND fries? Yes please!
